Charge to park more than 1/2 mile from the room. Must turn in pool towel cards at checkout or be charged $10 each. Long wait to check out.
The room was clean, and the oceanfront view from our 5th floor location in the Ocean Tower was impressive. The Dolphin Quest experience, while expensive, was very much worth our time, especially for the time spent with dolphins--the guided snorkeling was not as good in their ocean-connected lagoon as it was out in some of the Hawaiian bays. Check-In: the check-in experience was awful. While I waited patiently in line using the line suggested by the velvet ropes constructed by the hotel, at least four other parties skipped over this line and cut directly in front of my wife and me, with no recognition from staff. I tried to speak up politely about this when I finally checked in, and I received a boilerplate response about sharing this information with the manager. Food: The food was extremely expensive and poor. A fairly basic hot breakfast for two came out to well over $70. In addition, a pizza dinner at "Dona and Tony's" was essentially a frozen pizza and cost well over $40. Housekeeping: In terms of housekeeping, one of our housekeepers (most likely unintentionally, but still) managed to throw out an expensive razor that we were storing on the bathroom tub, and on that same day the housekeeper also forgot to use a flat sheet when re-making the bed. Parking: Finally, I feel that the parking expense is outrageous. $25/day for self-parking (when valet is $30/day...plus tip), especially when your room is 0.8 miles away from your car.

Right away we received a text message asking if there was anything we needed. We asked for a late checkout and got it! Noticed The Waterfall wasn't flowing into the main pool? Whats up with that?

Beds were comfortable. The lies, poor service, staff didn't even care when I walked across the whole complex to speak with someone about my concern. Wouldn't get a manager for me to speak to when requested. Staff very rude! Hidden fees, no shuttle services for free as they stated, prices for food was so high we ate lobster for every meal somewhere else and saved money than eating at the Hilton. Transportation around hotel was poor! Took 15- 20 minute before either would arrive. Trolleys would only run certain times a day, there were 13 boats I counted and there wasn't but 2 of them running at any given time. Had to walk across the whole facility every time, in which we beat the trolley and the boat to our destination. Trolley would always be in maintenence so when we did try it out it only went down one stop from the lobby and you had to walk from there. If you need exercise, then choose this place. Plan on 15-20 minute walk to lobby or the pool, etc. We stayed at the Fairmont for 5 days before we came to try out the Hilton. Switching was the biggest mistake! Fairmont 6 star rating, Hilton 1 star only because we stayed alive. Going to share this experience on every review site possible.
low key not enough pool chairs
Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, great location on A-Bay. Easy parking. Book a room with ocean view or ocean front, and get the deal with breakfast included. Really nice staff at the breakfast. Appreciated the refrigerator in room! Fitness center was adequate. Rooms and public areas/hallways really need new carpet, but it looked like this renovation was under way. The beds were good, pillow selection horrible. The stairwells really need to be cleaned and spruced up.
The pools are awesome, cascading down in three tiers. The beach is a bit strange, with lots of rocks and when we were there they were doing a construction and palm tree trimming, so much of the area was taped off. Beach chairs/chaises were not in great condition. Our room faced the garden and was so so. The location is great! Walking distance to kings shops and queens shops. We loved the hospitality suite - which allowed us to hang out in the pool and at the beach after check out time.
THis townhouse-condo was a great place to spend a week. It's more like staying in a home than satying at a hotel room. There's everything a home would have. The complex grounds are beautiful and clean... very well maintained. The pool was very nice, and not busy (adult pool?). It was great having a kitchen and a patio. It looks like all the units face the golf course. I would highly recommend this place to all my friends, and would definitely book it again for myself!
The carpets and furniture were light colored and showed several stains. The inside walls had scraps and needed paint. Three of the window blinds did not work properly. Downstairs bath needed an exhaust fan or make the window work (it would not open). Housekeeping didn't come daily as stated and they removed the kitchen towels and dishcloth but did not replace them. They needed to replenish the toilet paper (we ended our stay with one roll for two baths and four people.
Wonderful property, great location, terrific staff!!! We had a gorgeous two bedroom condo which was huge and extremely comfortable. The pools and grounds are beautiful. The staff was amazing. We are ready to go again!!!'
The condo was very nice and convenient and the staff were helpful. It would be good if the map of the Waikola area showe distances to know what is an easy walk.
The Condo we stayed at was in a gated community and the grounds are well kept. The three bedroom unit had nice furnishing, but the carpets were very dirty which gave it a feeling that the rest of the condo was not clean. Housekeeping came only once in 5 days. They seemed to be in a hurry to clean and not willing to wait an hour until we left. Parking was also hard to find late at night since most of the spaces are reserved for the owners. We were not allowed to park our vehicle in the garage. I will not stay there again since there are many newer condos being built in the same area.
Me, my wife, and children spent a wonderful week at AWCV. Staff was great, house was clean, and there was functional fitness room on site!
I travelled with my wife, daughter and my parents to the Big Island over the 4th of July. This was the first trip to Hawaii for me, my wife, and my daughter, but my folks have been many times. My parents stayed at the Villas on their previous trip and were very pleased. Overall, we were very pleased with the location and accomodations and would (and have) recommended it to others. We stayed in a three bedroom villa neat the back gate of the property. All three bedrooms were comfortably (and tastefully) furnished. There was a large family room with plenty of room for all five of us. The kitchen was well appointed with all the pots, pans, utensils, and dishware we needed. The unit also came with a washer and dryer. One thing to be aware of if you are coming with a group - the property is gated (with the gate closed 24x7) and they only provide a single device per villa for opening the gate. Excellentes Hotel der Luxusklasse. Lage direkt am Meer. Der Hotelstrand ist relativ klein aber ausreichend und sicher auch für kleinere Kinder. Großzügiger Pool und sehr schön angelegter Garten. Lautes Mähen des Golfrasens jeden Morgen ab ca. 5 h a.m. an der zum Golfplatz nach Norden gerichteten Seite des Nordblocks! Diese Zimmer sollten bei der Buchung möglichst ausgeschlossen werden.
Die Lage, direkt am Strand und einer tollen Gartenanlage
Die phantastische Lage, der wunderschöne Ausblick auf den Pazifischen Ocean, der Strand und die Freundlichkeit des Personals. Das Hotel liegt für Touren ( z. B. nach Hilo ) über die Insel am richtigen Standort Ja, das trotz angebener 5 Restaurants, nur jeden Abend ein Restaurant geöffnet hatte.
Top Lage am besten Strand Hawaiis. Großer Pool - alle Zimmer mit Meerblick. sehr weite laufwege zum Parkhaus, Pool, Strand etc. - je nachdem in welchen Flügel man untergebracht war. Wenige Fahrstuhlmöglicheiten. Für den recht teuren Preis kein Frühsück und vor allem kein Parkplatz (15 Dollar ganz schön happig) inklusive.
Die perfekte Lage an einem der schönsten Strände von Big Island. Das Service war extrem hilfreich und zuvorkommend. Die Zimmer waren geräumig und sauber. Relativ hohe Parkgebühren. Leider hatte das beste Restaurant (Coast Grill) nur drei Tage pro Woche offen. Im Zimmer wäre es gut zumindest einige Gläser für eigene Getränke zu haben.
The Kohala Coast is one of the best locations in Hawaii for a luxury family vacation. Lots of recreational choices for everyone. For couples and a better beach and hotel, the Mauna Lani Resort is better.
The best thing about the Kingsland resort is the opportunity to have a 3 bedroom apartment -- with 4 adults (1 couple and 2 singles) this was ideal. Fully outfitted kitchen, with ample bathrooms, and nice lanai balcony for relaxing. Building 9 in the Phase 1 buildings needs update, particularly to bathrooms where showers did not work very well. We found the largeness of the resort difficult because there was not good signage or user-friendly maps. Breakfast buffets in resorts are always expensive, but this one was not very good, not even equal to less expensive Hilton hotels. the Waikiloa resort amenities are usable to Kingsland guests, but huge and not very accessible. Be prepared to walk up and down a lot of stairs.
A very friendly and comfortable place. Staff is excellent and the Bistro was better than expected, making good food and drinks. Bistro and Bar close early: 6:00 PM before Memorial Day, 7:00 PM after MD. The "Serenity Pool" really wasn't... Mostly kids with pool toys and water guns running around and screaming, having fun! So as long as you are not expecting the "Serenity Pool" to be completely Serene, its OK. Turns out the Adult area on the main pool is more Serene and closer to the bar, which is a plus...
