Clean and super spacious suite room. Welcoming staff rooftop pool and gyme a bit eerily quiet
The hotel far from everything that there is to do in the city, the staff was unhelpful in giving places to visit as they were really worried about our safety. So we practically spent 24 hours in the hotel as there was no facilities suitable to do anything.
Generally very impressed -- I only give 5 stars for hotels that blow me away in their price category. This one is simply very good value for money. - Spotless - Huge rooms - very large living room / desk area, and sizeable bedroom - Staff was very helpful, although I didn't need them much to be honest: I arrived very late (early the morning after my reserved arrival time) and they did hold the room for me; and left luggage for my last day, after checkout, was easy - Balcony - I think most rooms have one? - Top floors and the top-floor bar & pool have great views - Very reasonably priced - Just a few blocks from Wits, Constitution Hill and the Constitution Court / Old Fort, and Park station on Gautrain - Decent internet (not perfect, limited to 600 MB/day which may not be enough if you're streaming video, but adequate for my needs) - Some of the finishes in the room were a bit faded or strange - not top-quality (but this isn't a luxury hotel) - Would be nice to have a digital clock by the bedside, and 1-2 free outlets for charging phones, etc. - I had a nice little fridge, sink and many cupboards -- all empty except for a small coffee-maker and a few small spoons. If you have a little kitchenette like this, please include dishes & utensils... otherwise, not clear why to have the cupboards at all. - Not the hotel's fault, but: Braamfontein is not terribly lively after dark on weeknights. I didn't feel unsafe at all, but do be generally aware of those around you -- but don't be paranoid, it's largely known to be a safe student neighborhood. Also, didn't eat at the restaurant due to concerns raised by others (and so that I got out to see a bit more of the area).
