location unfriendly staffs
Great hotel. The room was very nice and it was conveniently located to Crazy Horse Museum and not too far from Mount Rushmore. I would definitely stay again.
Good modern hotel. Clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Great location to explore the Custer National Park. Overall an excellent stay. Fridge and microwave in the room. Small supermarket in Custer to buy food. Lots of parking. Not really. Pretty god hotel for the price.
It was easy to locate. The staff at the front desk offered guidance for our travels and was very helpful. We had a great stay here. Nothing was wrong with this facility; everything was very nice.
Nice hotel. Great base for Custer state park and black hills. Electric car plug ion sight too.
Room was very nice, stayed two nights. Breakfast OK, similar to the normal free breakfasts. Very clean, staff very helpful, would stay their again. Five minutes from Crazy Horse, 25 min from Mt. Rushmore. Be sure to see 8 pm show at Mt. Rushmor. No, would stay at this hotel again.
Perfect location for the event being attended. No, other than I called hour or so after leaving to ask if someone would check the room as I left a charger plugged in. They took my number and said they would call back but have not.
The whole process was very easy. Check in/out was smooth and seamless. The staff was friendly and helpful. No.
Door was left open by staff person for long period while we were away. Luckily nothing stolen.
The home-like/comfortable feel. The hotel room doors were cool. The room was clean and very functional with a large mini refrigerator and microwave. The pool and hot tub area had great hours - adults from 10pm-midnight was awesome! Had friendly staff too. The hot tub was too hot and needed to be cleaned. Although, the pool was great.
Clean It says Deluxe breakfast but not correct ..Cheap breakfast
Room was large and well designed, especially appreciated the thought put into the usb and multi plug station. I also liked that the window could be opened to allow the fresh air of the Black Hills into our room.
First time at this hotel. Custer is a wonderful town in a great location to explore the sites of the Black Hills of SD. Had a little difficulty with parking as we overlapped with the beginning of the 2012 Sturgis Bike Rally. But the hotel clerk helped us out with a space.
My husband and I spent two nights at this hotel while visiting Mt.Rushmore. There are MANY hotels in the area from which to choose. We were so happy with our decision to stay here. EVERYTHING about this hotel is 'top of the line.' The staff was very cordial and most accommodating. The free breakfast has lots of choices. This hotel also has a lovely back patio where you can sit out to enjoy the cooler evenings. If you're lucky, you might even see a deer or two.
The employees were friendly, and the property, being quite new, was in geat condition. Spacious room. Bathroom lighting was not my preference. Too low intensity. The quality of the main breakfast items was typical of what I usually find--not much to brag about. But, the juice, yogurt, & fruit (& maybe muffins) are always a great grab & go for the car to the trails. Not much commotion this time of year, so deer were in the back yard at dusk. Enjoyable fire pit & waterfalls also in back.
EVERYTHING ABOUT OUR STAY WAS WONDERFUL!
This hotel sets the standard of how every Holiday Inn should try to be. It is clean, smells good, has a great staff and has beautiful landscaping around the building. They were booked solid each day we were there and yet they provided personal service that never felt rushed or rude. Our room looked out onto the north side where they have installed a waterfall into the side of the mountain. The sound of it was very relaxing when we opened our window. I've stayed at several other Holiday Inns before that were horrible, so I didn't have high hopes for this one, but it was so nice it really surprised me.
The staff was courteous and helpful. The room was nice and comfortable. The continental breakfast was great with lots of choices - even for a picky 2 year old. The swimming pool was nice and family friendly. Even though it is a bit of a drive to the Rapid City attractions, it is only a short drive to Crazy Horse, Mt. Rushmore, and Custer State Park. Definitely would stay again!!! We stayed at an AmericInn in Rapid City after staying at the Custer Holiday Inn Express and we wanted to come back to the Holiday Inn - a much higher quality place for about the same price.
Great place to stay. Very nice hot breakfast. The hotel is new, clean, quiet, the stuff is friendly. The only minus is - we think the price too high for the location, even considering the pick of the season. We payed $140 and I'd pay $100 max! Other then that - it's great place to stay!
We were very happy with the hotel. Actually surprised with how nice it was for the price. The room was clean, spacious. Our rollaway was brought up to us quickly. Any other requests were handled immediately. The breakfast was much better than we have experienced elsewhere. Hot dishes along with continental it was very nice. The pool and hot tub was clean. Did run out of towels but as soon as someone called the front desk, it was handled. Really, we had no complaints, very happy. Quiet. No one running down the halls.
The room was reasonably priced and very close to the major attractions in the area. The continental breakfast was pretty much above average but being southerners we were somewhat disappointed that thy didn't offer grits. The weather was atrocious with two major snowstorms in early Oct. The road crews had the parking lot cleared in no time. Really would recommend this hotel. 1 to 10 I would say about a 8 when judging hotels in that same category.
The front desk clerk was a little bit distracted answering phone calls when I checked in, but when I got to my room she called to apologize! and ask if I needed anything. Really nice, unexpected touch. Rooms are on par with another hotel I stayed at the night before. HUGE bathrooms with soaking tubs are a welcome site after a long day of riding the Mickelson trail. Custer is a great location within the Black Hills - easy drive to Mt. Rushmore and a good pizza place downtown. Looking forward to staying here again!!
The hotel is conveniently located near downtown Custer, only a 5 minute drive away. The walls and ceilings are paper thin. We heard every word of the conversation being held by the people in the next room, and they were not speaking loudly. We also heard every footstep taken by those in the room above us. The housekeeping staff was also not to be trusted. My wife had an unopened package of maternity underwear stolen from our room. Lock up everything if you stay here.
I especially liked and chose this hotel because it has electric car chargers. The motel rooms are reasonable and comfortable with free WiFi. Breakfast was provided which was mediocre. Nothing I did not like but I thought breakfast could have been better.
pet friendly, clean, seemed like family managed, friendly staff very small bathroom, vanity was outside of the bath tub room, no very convenient!
Everything! We've never stayed in a hotel that was as clean as this one. The owners were very helpful and went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The fifty retro theme was great. Location: close to everything. Nothing!!! it was
Friendly, clean, quaint
I loved it's 1950's theme
Very cool motel. Owners very helpful and friendly. Cleanest hotel/motel we have stayed in. Bed very comfortable. Water temperature in shower fluctuated greatly.
Everything was close from the hotel
Breakfast, Location, Staff, Price. Single ply tissue papers.
The bathroom fan had a loud banging noise. No lid on ice bucket. Beds were not comfortable. Air conditioner kept running all night.
location was great
My mother was in the hospital on our first night(Wednesday) and passed away on Thursday. These were non refundable rooms so we got no use out of them at all Had to fill out something on top questions so put poor in as was not there
The free breakfast was great Everything was great
We liked the location and the cleanliness. The continental breakfast needs to be organized better or spaced out in a bigger area. It was too aggravating after the first attempt, so we did not partake after that.
Location to my Rushmore and black hills Bathroom was a tight fit. The door didn't open all the way
Room was larger than expected and the furniture was a present surprise. The was comfortable. Over a pleasant stay.

Was nice to be able to park near our room and to have restaurants within walking distance. Also appreciated the breakfast onsite.
