When I picked this place online I knew that the bathrooms were down the hall, so I was OK with that. What I did not know was that there is no air conditioning and it was in the high 90s when I was there in February. It was miserably hot. There is also no elevator, and the place is just a dump: squeaky, bumpy floors, ratty carpet, my window would not stay open unless I propped it open with a piece of wood. Also, the cleaning was questionable. In the corner of my room was an empty bottle of hand lotion and someone elses sock. Internet access is $*per day, or something like $* for an hour. On the plus side, the breakfast is not bad, though rather disorganized, the price is good, and the location is convenient -- about half a block from a ferry terminal which will get you to Circular Quay, where all the action is, in about 10 minutes. If you are going at a time when it is not so hot and you are prepared for the general grunginess, it might be OK for you. They have a wide variety o...
The location was fantastic. Kirribilli is an awesome, quiet little neighborhood within minutes of the bustling Central Business District. The bed and pillows were a bit hard for my taste.
Separate tub and shower. Separate beds available and view. Ease and immediacy of taxis. Free wifi
Great hotel location affording some rooms great views. Excellent bathrooms, comfortable beds. Lots of people obviously love it - maybe it helps if you upgrade to the Horizons Club, though I don't see why you should have to, especially as these rates not always on offer. Reception shambolic: no welcome, no porter, no offer of help with bags, no offer to join loyalty programme, told me the Shangri-La in Singapore is tired and needs updating! No apology for not correctly processing reservation. Horrible view of motorway toll booths. Annoying things in the bedroom like unplugged lamps, missing glasses, grubby hotel directory. Food and beverage not good. Saturday night the locals all book up the top floor restaurant and fill up the adjacent bar. Reserve days in advance or you have no chance. For a drink this leaves the Lobby Bar. Neon-lit chilled food cabinet, no music, no atmosphere, bright lighting. Nasty. Only available food outlet The Cafe. Horrible buffet. Dreadful, expensive, over-rated.
The reception staff were very friendly and efficient coupled with the room service staff who were professional, courteous and friendly. With many people at breakfast it was obvious the staff had difficulty coping with large queues, tables not set properly, inattentive staff.
The location was excellent. The room had a washer/dryer, microwave, stove, dishwasher, cooktop, and dishes/silverware, and a large refrigerator, making it perfect for an extended stay (or a short stay). They provided laundry and dish detergent as well. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The 24-hour reception was a good amenity. The only slight complaint is that my room often was not serviced until after 3 pm.
Amazing staff - very helpful and knowledgeable and helped arrange activities for us to do around Sydney.
