The general and specific location could not be better. The hotel has retained its charm of former days amongst the hustle and bustle associated with a guests coming and going. I gained the impression from the desription in the material on line that the rooms would all have good views. The two rooms I booked had only glimpses of the views by looking at an angle out of the windows.
The greeting by the restaurant manager who kindly directed us from our incorrect entry point to teh hotel lobby.
We were so impressed by how polite and helpful all the staff were. The room was beautiful. The buffet breakfeast was the best we have ever had.
The sense of comfort and relaxation with attentive (but not overly so) staff and good food. Beautiful pools and a lovely lounge.
There was a problem parking every night which for the money per night I would not have expected!
Exclusive location, beautiful environment, luxurious rooms, great facilities and service. This is truly a 5-star accommodation!

We just loved the Art Deco lights and accoutrements,beautiful Grand Dining Room and the various lounges in which to luxuriate for the weekend. Great drinks on offer too, we particularly enjoyed the Great Western Golden Ale. Cocktails looked good but we didn't indulge. Good location, just near the station but no noise from the railway and just outside the door is the main street of Katoomba and the Paragon Cafe, oldest cafe in Australia I'm told. Creaking floorboards! Shower was over the bathtub, not a shower stall.
This place has fantastic kerb appeal and the common rooms are attractively furnished and comfortable. The hotel is now under new management and an improvement plan has been put in place to restore the hotel to its full potential, including simple things such as updating to digital, flat screen TVs. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly, providing us with the essential information for our long weekend in the Blue Mountains. We had a small problem which was quickly and satisfactorily resolved by the manager, who came across as very focussed on bringing the hotel back to standard. This is a hotel with good location, looks excellent on the outside, is comfortable inside and no longer deserves the rating applied to it under the old owner. The new owner is making a difference to his clients' experience. Keep up the good work. Room Tip: Avoiding the holiday periods and weekends, avoids the higher tariffs.
