Excellent hotel for a quiet, relaxing stay. Good for reading and pool and a base for exploring the north end of the island. It is a long way from anything but not really remote. They have a shuttle service to the mile away beach and small town.
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Barbados. We arrived on Monday June 2, 2008 and fell in love with the Island and with our hotel the Sugar Cane Club. We were able to stay in a one bedroom with small kitchen and living room for the price of most hotel rooms. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and the weather was great. We did not rent a car I was concerned with driving on the left side and the narrow roads in Barbados. Next time I will rent a car. The staff was very helpful. They drove us to town several times. We were able to buy groceries and one day we rode the public bus to Bathsheba. If you go to Barbados make sure you see the beach at Bathsheba it is awesome. The bus ride was $1.50 bds (75 cents US dollars). My wife didn't want to come home. The pool area and grounds are beautiful. Flowering trees and plants everywhere. The sunsets are spectacular. The hotel is not on the beach but you can see the ocean from the restaurant. My wife enjoyed the ...
Stayed for business, but would go back again on a personal trip as well. Great property, great staff, tucked up in the hills of NWest Barbados. Views of the ocean from your balcony. Rooms are very spacious and a really good value. Serene. Little kitchenettes are perfect for breakfast and lunch. Staff is very friendly, our stay here was more like visiting friends. Very casual, very comfortable. Property is in the midst of completeing a nature walk through the grounds that will be fantastic. But in the meantime, they have a complete gym and racquetball court. And a cute little art gallery if you want to buy some local paintings. Recommend renting a car as property is close to the highway so it is easy to get around the island without having to get stuck in W.Coast/Bridgetown traffic.Easy drive to great local restaurants.
The Sugar Cane Club sits on a hill overlooking a grove of royal poinciana trees and the Atlantic Ocean. The beach and Speightstown are too far too walk, but there is a free shuttle every two hours during the day. The hour-glass shaped pool is long enough for lap swimming, and a kiddie pool keeps little children who want to splash out of the way of adults who want to swim The ''rooms'' are actually small apartments. They are newly and tastefully refinished. The kitchen is well laid out and has a full-size refrrigerator and both a range and a microwave. I thought the restaurant was overpriced, so we cooked all but 2 of our meals. The Sugar Cane Club's shuttle picked us and our groceries up at the super market in Speightstown. The weekly manager's cocktail party is a great time to get to know the owner/manager and one's fellow guests. Natalia, the daytime desk clerk, is patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. Fitness room is the best I have ever seen: everything works!
