My brother and I were traveling from Arizona and needed an inexpensive place to stay that wasn't a hole in the wall. This place was excellent for that. A lot of times motels of this era smell badly, have broken fixtures, shabby carpet, dirty bathrooms, insects, etc. The Horsehead is clean, simple, and just right for a stopover near the canyon lands. The proprietor, Jason, even called us while we were traveling to make sure we weren't lost and were still planning to stay. Great experience.
Comfortable bed. Micro, fridge and free wifi. Cramped bathroom.
The bed was nice with multiple pillows. It was like stepping back to the 70's with rustic furniture, and the colored tile stand up shower. The room did have a nice AC/Heat unit, flat screen TV, wifi, microwave, and fridge. I unplugged the frig since it was making a bad high pitched sound, and the wifi only worked for about 25% of the time. The employees were great, and I am pretty sure that they would have replaced the frig if I had asked.
They had a full kitchen with all the accessories you could ever need for you use. The kitchen was very well organized. The place was an old mill with much of the equipment still on site. It was very interesting to look at. They had a lot of places to lounge, and even had a small library for your use. It was a creative use of space to turn what use to be a business into living space. A lot of hidden spaces to discover. Since the flooring was an old wooden one you could hear when people got up in the middle of the night as the floors creaked.
