We spent a week at the Barcelo Langosta two weeks ago. The property grounds and rooms are pristine. The food was excellent - lots of variety and well prepared. The location was an easy walk to town. Plenty of activity/tours to take, or just hang out at the pool or beach. The staff was super curteous and helpful. We are in our 50's and are very experienced travelors all over the world. We were very pleased and would return for some R&R.
Overall, this was a very nice hotel/resort on the beach. There are not a lot of amenities, but the grounds were immaculate and well-maintained. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially if you will speak Spanish with them. The area is safe, and only a mile walk from town. Also, the resort is fairly close to all the activities that you might want to consider: zip-lining, surfing, horseback riding, etc. The hotel charges a reasonable rate for internet access ($40.US for 7 days), but only one laptop/cell per room can use the service at a time.. The food was mediocre: not excellent, but far from inedible. The drinks were also not very strong, and the house wine was horrible. If you are looking for gourmet cuisine, this is not the place for you. However, if you want a great resort that is carefully maintained, with a friendly staff, and a comfortable size, All on a budget, I would definitely recommend this hotel. I would stay here again.
We had a large group of us meet at this resort. Food was surprisingly good, staff was great, lots of activities, grounds we nice and clean. Rooms were a bit musty. Resort is right on the ocean. Chefs cook our fresh catch from fishing for us. Very safe environment.
This hotel is very close to all of Tamarindo's nightlife, restaurants,shops...without being in the middle of town. Gives you a choice of being at the beach, out on the town, or taking advantage of all inclusive service. They are next to protected areas, so the views from the properties are green and lush, sometimes so overgrown they have covered a but of the ocean view. This tells you how committed they are to respecting their natural surroundings. I hadn't been here in almost 3 years, and I felt food quality and service were much improved, as well as room quality.
I stayed 5 days at the Barcelo and overall it was a good experience. At first the air conditioning was leaking and after three calls the hotel maintenance people came. It wasn't a big deal though since we had a towel on the floor. The food was surprisingly good and the fruit juice was amazing! It inspired me to buy a juicer. The location is right on the beach and there is surf is very good. I highly recommend renting boards or getting lessons from Iguana Surf. I plan to go back in November and stay at the Barcelo. I stayed in the second building which is quiet.
Costa Rica is beautiful from what we had seen of it the 7 days there..but the hotel for an All-Inclusive was disappointing! The booze there was nasty so we went to the corner store and brought some of our own - they didnt provide name brands just their own make of liquor and beer and if you wanted better you would pay for it... the buffet by the pool for lunch was lame unless your really into fruits then you would be satisfied. Our room was always kept clean and neat with clean towels. Trying to talk with the most of the staff there was NOT always easy as most didnt speak English well except for the front desk. The 80 taxi fare from and to the airport was expensive so make sure you have that arranged in advance with a shuttle. You would expect for an all-inclusive that the spa for a massage would be included NOT!! that was extra.. and the casino was small and only card game is 21 and Tute is played there.. The workout facility was decent for the average persons needs. The tours were ...
Location was beautiful. Hotel was close to town so you could walk or take a $5 cab ride. Service in the restaurant and by the pool was ok at best. Drinks were never made right or at least different from what we were used to. Staff did not seem like they wanted to help or even talk to you. We did have one great waiter in the restaurant by the name of Gredy. He was very happy and helpful. The room was clean. The maids did a great job. The room was an average hotel room but the beds were a little hard. We had fun and would probably stay there again.
My family and I (husband and two kids) visited Barcelo Langosta All Inclusive Resort in Dec/Jan 2013. Everything about the place was fabulous. The staff were excellent and very accommodating. We can't say enough about the Entertainment staff, particularly the Entertainment Director, Joaquin was the best face of Costa Rica. Both he and his staff work tirelessly around the clock to provide guests a pleasant and fun environment. We'd highly recommend this place as a family oriented vacation. Costa Rica is a beautiful country and we look forward to visiting new places in the future.
Family vacation with 2 teens. Such a wonderful country. We were very happy with the hotel. The entire Staff was very freindly and helpful, food was great, lots of variety at every meal, rooms kept very clean. Drinks were good and we never had a problem getting served. Beautiful grounds, awesome pool, all very clean. The beach was great at low tide. My son had a blast boogie boarding and riding the 'lazy river' that flowed from the beach to the ocean. The Beach was small and too rocky at high tide so we did not go on then. Little crabs kept getting into the room but my kids loved them, it made us laugh. Room was large but could use a bit more furniture. Cleaning staff did a great job changing out towels, cleaning & straightened, and even organized all our shoes each day. Jose took us on a tour of the grounds and made sure we had plenty of bottled water in our room. Location was good, 25 min walk to town. Really cute town but not cheap. We booked several tours with Jussy who works for TA...
Had a fantastic stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was very good.
Just came back from the Barcelo Langosta Beach. On my arrival on May 8, 2010 my husband and I had to wait for our room to be cleaned so we decided to go the restaurant to eat. What a disgusting, unsanitary place. There were hundreds of flies in the restaurant. They were in the salads which were all open, the food, desserts and on your body. Guests had napkins chasing the flies. I spoke to the Manager about the disgusting condition and was told that the hotel is near a 'mangrove' hence the reasons for the voluminous amount of flies. My suggestion to him was that the place needed to be cleaned up because his explanation was totally unacceptable. We were in the lobby sitting at the bar and the flies were also a problem there. Even though the location of the hotel is suitable, I will never go there again. I'm still having nightmare from all those flies.
I had a great time at this hotel. It had several different things to offer for its customers, depending on what kind of vacation you are interested in! The pool area was nice; it had a nice bar/snack area, comfortable lounge chairs and a very relaxing environment. For an all-inclusive I would say it was good, but not excellent. It definitely had everything you need but it is only buffet style at the same place every meal. The staff was very friendly and on top of things. It was a wonderful experience and a great value.
Nothing The place was disgusting, I should had listen to reviews bout rooms not being clean but I gave it the benefit of doubt. First the pillows had hair on them, the towels in the bathroom were like stain with paint or something and worse part is the bathroom smelled like week old sweaty clothes( not exaggerating). There was a shirt hanging on curtains from previous guest. There was a fridge but it didn't work! I left the place, there was no way I could sleep there let alone shower and use those towels. The pics are deceiving and I don't know who reviewed this place but my experience was. Awful!
Kevin and the staff were fantastic. From start to end they were so welcoming, helpful, and friendly. The breakfast every morning really started the day out correctly. So good! The rooms are amazing and the whole chill, chic, vibe of the place made for a great complement to the Tamarindo experience. A little oasis from the beach and the town. Seeming complaint at first is really a strength; little tricky to get to but the map they provide is immensely helpful. Nice that it's a street or two away from the main strip.
