Situated right in front of a wide private beach, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. Friendly staff, great off-season rates, beautiful views, and very nice facilities. Our room was spacious, with a separate bedroom and sitting room, and the dinette was a lifesaver, complete with basic cooking tools and a hotplate. We will be coming back here!
Great to have beach service which included food, drinks, and chairs. Wonderful time before the true season with crowds. Sometimes the food service could be very slow which was strange because there wasn't many people.
Nice kitchen, nice beds, nice staff. Great private beach. Small dinning room table. Small bathroom. Small balcony. There were a lot of flies in the room. Noisy balcony due to AC.
Location is great, rooms are large, pool is great size. The pool water had a bad smell to it. The rooms are very old and out dated, needs a serious renovation to the bathroom. There was no iron or hair dryer so be aware of that. We asked for a 2 hour late check out and were told we would have to pay half of the day rate( meanwhile the hotel was empty that day). I will not return to this hotel.
Bristol Plaza was a good value hotel to stay in. The staff/front desk were excellent. We requested an ocean front room and got. The room was reasonably clean. The bedspreads need replaced and updated.
Beach & Surroundings (Ocean is in view and a couple of hundred feet away) Flat screen, HD TV worked well. Wildwood Boardwalk about a half mile up the beach with rides, stands etc. (Wildwood Crest, where the motel is located, does not have a boardwalk). Town has many decent restaurants plus the usual assortments of chain food places. Geared to family Ocean beach fun ! Older motel (`50s-`60s ?), fairly well maintained, everything (bed, sink, toilet, tub) is SMALL. Found some previous guests items in a bag in the bathroom under sink cabinet (Cleaning staff ?) Absolute minimum on everything . . . shower and sink water flow, soap bars, shampoo, seems like your living in "TinyTown" ! Pool was small but OK. I understand that this area has only a three month season and can probably not afford major improvements, but it would have been very "tight" for two adults and two children to live in this room for a week. (we were only two adults for two days). Typical Wildwood Motel . . . great beach, so, so accommodations.
Heated pool, close to access the beach, staff was nice No private balconies, only 1 elevator, rooms were dated, the dresser in our room was broken. I don't understand why hotels think that they don't need to be updated ever after 20 years!
We have visited Cape May over a dozen times over the last 25 years (we were married there in 1992), and in that time we have stayed in several oceanfront hotels there. The rooms at the Grand were clean and comfortable, the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant served good quality food at fairly reasonable prices. Both the indoor and outdoor pools were kept up well, and towels weren't hard to find. At the Grand Hotel's price point, we expected a few more amenities, such as beach service (other similarly priced hotels provide chairs and umbrellas at the beach for their guests, and some even deliver food and drinks from the restaurant to the beach). I also have never stayed at a hotel with a price point over $250 with laundry facilities that were coin operated. I was also surprised that I couldn't charge my meals at the restaurant to my room, which was mildly inconvenient. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Grand, but we feel that it could have been a better value for the money.
Location. Lots of towels. Damp carpet in room. No bathroom vent fan. Too much chlorine in indoor pool. Loud hallway echoes from the glass. Uncomfortable bed and pillows. Just seemed overall dirty and dated. Oh, no coffee or tea too.
Room was not cleaned.
