The room was very nice, including a duvet and top sheet. The clerk didn't know the parking garage was closed off. We were able to find street parking. The same clerk did a poor job or writing our room number on our key cover. His 9 looked more like a 7. My husband got very frustrated trying to get into the wrong room. I was glad that we didn't wake the occupants.
The rooms are super adorable and everything is super comfortable. It's close to everything in town. The staff was very friendly. Even the little soaps were hand crafted, which I liked a lot. The televisions seemed to have problems. Everything was working super slowly. The covered garage had some garbage in it after the night, which was kind of sketchy.
location to Whitman and downtown Could use some updating. Red Lions at one time had a reputation which i would say rivaled a Hilton. However, over the years, they've let themselves (in general) go down hill. The Walla Walla location overall is clean. The carpet could use a good cleaning and the roof is covered with moss-not a good first impression. Outside colors are atrocious.
the location; the bed, the lobby The room was outdated- even the hair dryer in the room was at a low wattage. Of the three people I came in contact with at the front desk, two were horrible. When we checked in the person made a HUGE point of saying we booked through Expedia (Kayak); they also gave us the worst room on the property- next to the elevator AND the vending machine when the hotel was not fully booked. I would NOT recommend this hotel!
I liked the room, the very soundproof walls/floors in the old section of the hotel. The location puts you surrounded by tasting rooms. We had booked rooms in the conference center section of the hotel and paid a bit more to upgrade to stay in the old hotel. It would have been quieter to be in the conference area; the street running past the front of the hotel is very noisy and looks out at gas station signage. So although we were able to upgrade, we didn't get the best kind of king standard rooms, instead I felt they put us near the elevators and in the rooms that would be least likely to sell later that day. By the hotel staff's own admission, the old section of the hotel was very empty those nights. It felt like in early November that the kitchen had gone into off-season presentation mode. A steak salad I had from the bar menu--since the bar was where most of the energy was the Sunday night we ate there--was soggy with a blue cheese dressing, although it was described in the menu as having a white balsamic dressing. The steak was two giant chunks of dry beef. Not sure it was steak; I asked for it well-done as I'm not much of a beefeater, but thought they'd be cooking sliced steak to-order, not hacking off a big chunk from an already cooked roast. House-made potato crisps were a bit past their prime and definitely made earlier that our order, and cold. Wine selection was good but no sommelier was in the building to assist. Coffee pot in-room was entirely plastic and there was no cream or sugar (or white stuff of any kind) for the nasty in-room brewed coffee. No tub in our room only a very nice large shower.
The hotel itself is very well appointed. We enjoyed the Marcus Whitman art exhibit. The room lacked the attention to detail giving to the rest of the property. We shut the noisy heating unit off in January to get some sleep. There was no do not disturb tag for the door so room service bothered us. Just like the last time we stayed there were five tiny pillows instead of two or more large comfortable pillows.
Super clean rooms and common areas. Although I did not use it, the pool and hot tub areas looked dirty. Perhaps it was the lighting, but the water appeared somewhat green and cloudy.
Location was great. No insulation in the walls. When water is running through the pipes, it is very loud. You can also hear what is going on down the hall even if the door is closed.
While the staff was very apologetic and helpful, the following experience made the stay horrible. We were given a new room but we're not able to sleep well at all. The 10 percent discount they said they would give was not nearly good enough. The bed had been made over a mattress that over half had been urinated on probably the night before. My wife sat on the bed as we were getting ready to go to sleep and found that the urine was soaking up through all of the bedding. This was disgusting!
Friendly staff. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Heating system was difficult to regulate - either too warm or too cold.
Traveling with a small pet is always a bit challenging Here the location is right on Mill Creek, large lawn area for dogs, very quiet and centrally located Staff during our stay was very professional yet still retained that small town friendliness Ask for a room that faces the creek and you won't be disappointed The food for breakfast could be improved
This hotel was clean, convenient to the area and highway access, with a local restaurant and coffee shop next door. The value was perfect.
