The room was very clean and the owners are very friendly and accommodating. At first glance, you see a relic left over from the hey-days of the space program, which by the way, the name fits perfectly. BUT, our room had been completely renovated and was probably one of the cleanest rooms of any hotel I've ever stayed in. (and yes, I've stayed in quite a few) It was a very personal experience. The owners even called shortly after check-in to make sure everything was OK. Any and all of our needs were met and taken care of as if we were family. We had all the amenities (Microwave, Fridge, Coffee maker) as other hotels I've paid twice the price to stay in. (less than a week later)
The exterior is dated, but well maintained. Considering this is a family owned business and not a corporate cookie cutter operation, I'd say they're doing it pretty well on their own. Definitely recommend for the budget minded traveler.
Is it perfect? No. But I've never been to a hotel/motel that was. Are there nicer hotels? Sure! Can you beat the level of personal service for the price? I doubt it.
I've seen other reviews for this hotel that mentioned the lack of amenities such as continental breakfast, nearby restaurants, phones in room, etc.
Blah, Blah, Blah!
For the price you can't beat this place. It's close (enough) to Kennedy Space Center (purpose of our visit), There ARE restaurants and other stores (Walgreens, Wal-Mart, etc) within reasonable driving distance (7 miles or so), and who travels without a cell phone these days? Why be concerned with a phone in the room?
