The General Store (Room #4) is a private hotel room with 1 king sized bed, air conditioning, gas log fireplace, WIFI, satellite television, mini refrigerator, microwave and a large private bath, all in an old Western town setting. The Ten Bits Ranch General Store (Room #4) is part of an old West town themed setting. There is a Bank, Schoolhouse, Gun Shop, General Store, Steakhouse, Hattery, Gazette, Courthouse, Saloon, Hotel, Barber Shop, Saddle shop and Jail. There are several shared fire pits on Ten Bits Ranch, including one near the General Store (Room #4). There is a guest shared Cantina dining area with a full kitchen for your use. This is one of the very few nightly rentals that provides an automatic backup generator in the event of power outage to south Brewster County. Bring your camera and get ready to relax! Drive or Fly-in! The choice is yours. We take great pains to insure that our facility is sanitized and disinfected as much as possible between visiting guests. This is a 107 acre property full of wildlife, cactus, birds and hiking. This is a NON-smoking and No Pet rental. There is a $250 fee for violation of either of these policies. This property is accessible by car (the last 3 miles is a well maintained gravel road). The RV is a 34' 2018 Jayco Eagle Series bumper pull with two queen beds. This RV is equipped with huge flat screen TV, wifi, bluetooth stereo, double-door refrig/freezer, oven, range, outdoor gas grill, a gas griddle and a wood fired barbque pit with mesquite provided. This also comes equipped with 2 factory A/Cs and central heat, coffee pot with timer and a counter top icemaker. You will also find on-site a large charcoal/wood bar-b-q pit and lots of mesquite wood to cook with. Also at the disposal of the customer is a 10'x 45' covered wooden deck with chairs and a ceiling mounted mister system for hot summer days. Beautiful views of Bell Mountain, White Horse Mtn and the Christmas Mtns can all be seen from this vantage point, none more than a mile and a half from the porch. This deck is also equipped with five 8' roll down screens for additional comfort from extreme heat. Of course there is a propane gas fire pit and a Chiminea with ample pinion pine firewood for cold winter days and nights. Enjoy the viewing of scaled quail, eurasian and white winged doves, mule deer, javelina, fox, coyote, ravens and red-tailed hawks. Blackbear, mountain lions and bobcats have also been seen close to the house. Absolutely no hunting or discharge of firearms is allowed. This home is completely dependant on rainfall. We request that all visitors limit their water consumption. These quarters come with a 6 gallon water heater which helps reduce long showers. Due to the various types of wildlife in the area and customer allergies, we have a no pet policy that is strictly enforced. There is also a $250 fee for violation of this policy. There is a home on-site which is the owners private residence and customers are not permitted with it's use. If you Fly-in, we can arrange to have you picked up and provide you a 6-person UTV for rental if requested. Area attractions include but are not limited to: Big Bend National Park (with access to a rowboat ride into Old Mexico for lunch and shopping), Big Bend Ranch State Park, Terlingua Ghostown, Lajitas Golf Resort, a beautiful River Road trip along the Rio Grande to Presidio, TX, chartered rafting down the Rio Grande through Santa Elena Canyon or Boquillas Canyon, and dinner at the Starlight Theatre in the ghostown. You are welcome to bring your own mountain bikes, ATV’s or UTV’S and ride out right from your front door. This property is a scenic 40 minute drive from the National Park. Closer to home (1/2mile south), you will find the Terlingua Ranch Headquarters office open 7 days a week, along with a cabana and bath house at the swimming pool. The ranch headquarters area also has a 7 day a week/ 3 meals a day café known as "The Bad Rabbit". There is also a laundromat located very close to the mgmt. office where they also sell bagged ice, logo T-shirts, wine glasses, caps and koozies. If you are fortunate enough to have owners Mark and Michelle there on a visit at the time of your stay, you will surely benefit from their knowledge of the area and their ability (price negotiable) to take you on a UTV guided tour of more of the unknown areas of the 225,000 acre Terlingua Ranch. This cozy one-bedroom vacation retreat located on 90 acres offers unparalleled 360 degree views, quiet, and comfort in a remote setting. No nearby lights to interrupt the starlit sky of the Big Bend. Sleeps two people in upstairs bedroom queen, plus a twin/daybed with a high-density foam mattress. The nearest house is a half mile away. You can go weeks without a passing car. House is light and modern, with bamboo floors, tile, and modern ceiling fans. The retreat is oriented so that at any time of the day, one of the two porches is in the shade. One is screened and the other open. This is a great vacation rental. An escape from everyday life with a beautiful view of Nine Point Mesa to the north, Jack Eden Mesa to the northeast and Corazones Peaks to the south. The property is true to its desert climate, with dozens of species of cacti, along with ocotillo, yucca, and many varieties of prickly pear, strawberry pitaya, and rainbow cactus in abundance. In addition, bluebonnets, the Texas state flower, and resurrection ferns are found on the 90 acres. The property provides ample opportunities for watching birds and wildlife. We see foxes and deer regularly, and at night frequently hear coyotes howling in the distance. To explore West Texas, the house is 30 miles from the Big Bend National Park gate; 23 miles to Study Butte/Terlingua ghost town and 35 miles to the famed Lajitas Resort. The house is located three-quarter mile along a dirt road from the main ranch paved road, and the dirt road takes you over a rise so that traffic on the paved road is not visible or audible. All vehicles can make the short trip (but as always in this part of the world, have a spare tire just in case). The property's solar and wind energy powers the lights, fans, appliances, and the radio/CD player, while propane gas powers the stove, wall heaters and hot water heater. The modern and eco-friendly separator toilet uses zero water. It separates liquid waste from solid and collects the solid wasted for composting. To back-up the solar and wind power, there is a very quiet gas-powered generator. This will recharge the batteries if needed and will power the window air conditioners in the hottest months. Thank you for understanding that there is a burn moratorium in Terlingua Ranch, and no campfires are allowed due to dry climate fire danger and fragility of desert vegetation. One note of caution: the stairs to the upstairs bedroom are steeper than normal and may not be the suitable for those who have difficulty managing stairs Interaction with Guests: We manage several properties and live a few miles away.
