Great location, hotel was quiet. We didn't pay for ocean view room but go one anyway. Breakfast was not bad either. The hotel was on the older side but it worked for us. We were 3 friends looking to getaway from our small children for a weekend ;)
Housecleaning was very courteous. The hotel catered well to all types of folk. Obviously being 4th of July, parking was a little rough but the hotel took care of us.
Everything was wonderful There wasn't anything we didn't liked
Our view was aaaammmaaazzziiinnngggggg!!! We were looking for something right off the beach and there it was. The room was very nice, as well, clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend. My only negative was regarding customer service. The front desk staff and concierge weren't welcoming and didn't seem to have good customer service. However the janitorial staff were very nice and greeter all the time.
We had a group of 13 year old girls here for a birthday party, the general manager was nice, we had a lot of people and they didn't have any larger rooms available so they let us stay. Service is horrible, housekeeping at night refused to accommodate with towels and blankets, said she was limited to only 4 but at the front desk they gave as many as we needed and the housekeeping gave even more the next morning. The complimentary breakfast was okay, but the tables were dirty and when I asked one of the ladies if she could wipe off a table for me she said "in a minute" and did something else. We sat somewhere else and she returned when another family tried to sit at the table and asked to have it wiped, then wiped it and warned that it would be very wet. The hotel is old and has a sticky feel to it, I will not be coming back.
Only scolding hot water for showers. Room door was open upon arrival, maintenance supply in bathroom but no maintenance person in sight. Front desk was quick to deal with that issue but didn't fix hot water
Rooms were clean, Staff friendly and professional. "Oceanfront" is misleading. The room I got was across the street in an older building with no ocean view. Rooms in the older building are open access with little to no security presence. I would have paid more to go to the main Best Western building if rooms were available.
Room hadn't been cleaned so we were moved to a lower noisy floor. Parking was terrible. Won't stay here again. could have had such a better experience at any competitor
Being on the oceanfront
Great location. Beautiful beachfront rooms. Staff was extremely courteous, and always happy. Everyone from the front desk to walking past maintenance. Rooms were well kept and clean. It is worth the extra emphasis to say that the rooms were clean, as it is very important to many people. My room was exactly as pictured. They did not use a "model" room for the pictures. Within walking distance to dozens of great restaurants. Front desk has a lot of deals and discounts on local attractions. One of the elevators felt a little bit shaky. Couple lots down had construction going (April 2015) so there were sounds of pile drivers going during the week. Being realistic, not the Hotel's fault in any way, but something to keep in mind for spring/summer 2015.
Great location and helpful staff Breakfast line was crowded and long, ants in the room, room occasionally smelled like smoke, restaurant staff was loud and annoying, elevator was broken, extremely small bathroom.
The staff was very helpful. The view from the room was great. The bed was a little hard for me. Didn't care that you have to wear a colllared shirt at the hotel restaurant that's on the beach. So we never ate at the hotel. We went to other hotels to eat.
The shower was awesome and the restaurant is the best in VA Beach
The location right on the beach was great. The room was clean and had a nice sitting area. I had a good dinner at Catch 31, right on the boardwalk with great service. When I mentioned my fish was a bit dry for my taste (but didn't want to send it back) they took half the price off the bill. Having beach chairs and towels included was convenient. And the rocking chairs on the boardwalk made for a great place to enjoy the ocean without going onto the beach. For the $1,000 I spent for two nights I expected more. The room only had a Murphy bed, and the walls were paper thin, so I could hear my neighbors' conversations clearly. The rooftop pool was nice, but I was chased down as soon as I arrived by a staff member who forced me to empty my water bottle as no outside food or drink was allowed. Housekeeping was a bit of a problem as well. I slept in the first day and then went to the beach. When my room wasn't cleaned by 3pm I called and asked if it could be done by 5pm and they said yes. When I returned at 6;30pn to clean up for dinner reservations, housekeeping was still in the process of cleaning my room. Also, the activities desk where you get your towel and beach chair was fairly aggressive about a time share promotion they were offering.
The Sky Bar was a very nice place to spend time. I wish it had been allowed to stay open later that evening (7/5) as there were multiple patrons who were asked to close their tabs and exit, but it was a good experience. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. I was really surprised by this. It took me until well after 2am to finally get so tired that the comfort didn't matter and I fell asleep.
We live in Northern VA and wanted a quick getaway for the weekend. This hotel was in a great location, easy parking in the garage across the street. The rooftop bar, lounge, and pool were our favorite part. The views are great and by far the best Virginia Beach experience we've had. The beach itself was extremely crowded, which we were expecting with visiting a tourist location. If you don't like crowds, do not visit Virginia Beach in the summer.
Check-in is at 4:00pm that's rather late!
room, beach, Catch 31 rest/bar..overall, no problem with hotel. Noisy outside of elevator room. coffee pot had to be replaced, didn't work. But, most of all, the staff never even apologized when I called a few days later to tell them that Priceline (Kayak, thus Travelweb) had already charged me for my room that I booked online. Oh, no. They told me that that's just the way it is...sometimes they don't get the info in time and it's my responsibility to get ahold of Priceline and make sure they call the hotel. Not even an apology. Took three calls to get them to understand what happened. Then after talking to Priceline and get a resolution started (which still has not been resolved), I called back and left the general manager a message explaining and left my number. No, not even a phone call back after two days not. Hilton sucks. I will never stay there again, or any of their hotels. I paid $216 for one night and got double billed to my card and it still is not resolved. I am going to write the corporate office. This is horrible customer service for a hotel of this supposed caliber.
The hotel ws in a very good location. There was a lot to do out side of the hotel & there was a very nice restaurant located in the hotel. The hotel it self was nice & very clean. The only thing I found fault was that both pools closed up too early.
Location Room was dirty, old and not well kept. Breakfast was not included. Exteremly overpriced!!
The breakfast was well worth the price. The beds were so comfortable and the grounds were nice to walk through. The staff was friendly and professional.
The hotel is cute and has a great breakfast buffet. The location is great and the pools are wonderful. The rooms are not as clean as one would like. The windows do not have blinds, so even though we tried to close the curtains as tightly as possible, a crack of light usually woke us in the morning.
The pool was perfect for kids.
The location was good. The room felt damp and it had a musty odor. The desk help appeared unhappy and short tempered. Was unwilling to help with any requests made.
Staff was extremely friendly and polite. The room and grounds were very clean. Beautiful and great amenities. Bed was a little too soft and small pillows
An employee gave us cups and bottles of water after we said how hot we were. Nice colonial decor. Clean A bit expensive.
Facilities were fabulous, including pool, grounds, spa, etc. Everything was so clean. And for the price, it was a great value. I would definitely stay here again. The hotel did not provide wash clothes, making it very difficult to take a shower. Also, the rooms were small and the facility was farther away from the ocean shore than we expected. Still, for the price, we would probably stay there again.
I liked it because it was a historic. Nice complimentary breakfast. Great southern hospitality.. The bed had a big dip in it so i sank in the middle when I slept so very uncomfortable. The price did not match with what was offered I paid almost 400 dollars for 2 nights not worth it. There was hair in the pool and the hot tub.
Hotel was great; make sure you stay in a double or a suite. The beds in the single room looks like a full size bed, not a queen.
Very clean and comfortable beds. Attended an event there and it was very nice. Phone in room wouldn't call front desk
We got a great single queen, room was comfortable and clean. The bed slept good, and it was quiet. Amenities were suitable. Indoor pool and hot tub were fun, and there was a locker room with showers for after the pool. Location was nice for our trip. 15 minutes to anything you needed. I would definitely stay here again. I would have liked a bigger coffee pot, since our room only had a one cup one, but i made do.
Jimmy at the bar was great! Also like the option for renting bikes. Food was very good. Ac unit was loud and we could not figure out how to turn It on and off . My sister decided to join me last minute and the front desk said they couldn't change my room from king to 2 queens because of how I booked even though theyhad rooms available .
Easy check-in with friendly and efficient staff. Room was standard c.1980s, but that's no problem with me, as furnishings were slick, clean, and undamaged. Bed was extremely comfortable, and heater (though a bit noisy) did a great job keeping the room comfortable. Outstanding location and environment, sufficiently removed from the central blocks of busy tourism with a broad semi-private beachfront. Oceanfront room had a 180º panoramic view w/ small private balcony. Water was wonderfully hot, and fridge wonderfully cold. No microwave. Within minutes I got changed into my swim trunks, ready to enjoy the hot tub advertised on the website as an amenity. NOT IN OPERATION was the sign greeting me there. The indoor pool (thankfully vacant) was adequately warm, with depths ranging from 3-4.5 feet. Additional disappointment came when 2 roaches greeted me in my room's sink, a surprise given the otherwise spotless condition of the room. I expressed these concerns upon checkout, and was told the inoperative hot tub was posted on their website. Well, I didn't see it before arriving, and I can't find it today...a day after checking out. Was given an "I'm so sorry...did you notify the desk?" about the roaches. I typically pack a fogger when I travel, but this was a short 2-night stay, and I didn't want to evacuate the room for those 4 hours of fog. Next time, I'll pack the fogger and splice that 4 hour vacancy into my plans.
Hot tub/indoor pool Prices of the soda vending machines and restaurant breakfast. Not having a guide for channels in the room.
The staff members very courteous from front desk, housekeeping or anyone I came in contact during our stay. Rooms cleaned a little better need a sweeper with a good edge cleaner. The same with the bathroom floors edges build up from the years. Several towel racks loose. No air condition in hallways temp outside 90+ during my visit.would have been nice if safe in room didn't have an extra charge.
There was a mix up in the room that was booked and the front desk took care of everything. The room was more than enough for a night. Great view great customer service Nothing
I loved the location being north of the boardwalk. Something I learned was this is the beach of choice for a lot of locals due to it being away from the hustle and bustle. It was a nice beach with a great resturant connected. The Resturant has won Wine Spectators best wine list in the world award four years in a row!! All employees were helpful and attentive. Everyone had great attitudes and personalities. The employees are what made it great, and will be why I return!! I'm in customer service myself and can be difficult to please.... I was laughing and having a good time with everyone. I even got the guest of the day award for returning a couple luggage carts lol It could've been a little cleaner, but I could've also spent triple and stayed at a Hilton or something. My family and I loved it, and met a lot of cool people.
The hotel was very clean and beautiful. Will definitely be going back to this wonderful place!! Best place on the beach! Nothing!
Bathroom rails were rusting and chipping
Staff was accommodating. Our room was not ready when they said it would be. Unclear rules on where pets were allowed. Even though pets are allowed, they are not pet friendly.
The staff was friendly and very accommodating to our needs The rate was a bit pricey for a king single bed room even though expendia. Food was pricy at the restaurant lounge.
Loved waking up to the the ocean. Very private balconies (oceanfront). The pool area was nice, I only got in the jacuzzi. The location is perfect if you don't want to be around the busy part of the beach. I will definitely be coming back. The elevators.. Always 2/3 or even 1 working so you had to wait in the uncomfortable hot hallways then get into a hot elevator.
Our room was very quiet and peaceful. Great location. There were no bugs-awesome! First after booking an oceanfront room, we got a "side" viewing balcony. I questioned them about this and they said that it was because I booked through expedia and that I needed to take this up with them. Everything seemed to be in need of serious updating, our toilet didn't want to flush properly, and when we called for someone to check it out, they never showed up or even acknowledged our call. The condition of the room left everyone feeling very uncomfortable overall.
Everything about the hotel i liked. No issues. Flawless i would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. Definitely got my money's worth.
Close to the water & right on the boardwalk, the rooms wee well kept and tidy. The free breakfast buffet was horible, we ate it our second day, I should have known better I'm usually against buffets all together! It gave me severe food poisoning & I was bed ridden 2 of the 4 days we were there! Never again!! Steer clear!!! Yuck!!!! Also elevator was extremely slow sometimes wiring up to five minutes..
We loved the view from our room and balcony. We found that the staff were very friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable. Great location. They had a good variety of foods for breakfast and did a very good job keeping everything filled up. We would come back here for another vacation. The kids didn't like the hall-ways. Hot and very narrow. The parking garage is tight but nice to be on the same floor you are staying on. Someone put a scratch on my car..
Very nice place to stay, walk out the back door and you're on the beach The bathroom was very small
The room was clean and the view was great. The staff was very friendly No blow dryer, no tea, the tv wasn't working and my boyfriend got it to work somehow after fooling with it, no big deal though, the overall stay was good
ocean front. clean. professional staff. rooms are a bit small.
Location is prime! Seconds to the beach and close to main strip attractions, food and entertainment. The staff were more than helpful and a pleasure to see. Very clean rooms with a great view. Pool, fitness area are very nice! Everything is setup to make your stay as easy as possable. Parking is included and the garage is attached for quick access to rooms. We really enjoyed our stay and will more than likely stay here again. It could be up kept a little better maintenance wise to the outside, our door to the balcony was pretty beat up and alot of rust and missing paint. They were in the process of painting rooms tho, so maybe the rest is soon to come. Its an older hotell so some things like that are expected. The rooms could be a little bigger but for what we needed and the price it was great! The breakfast was pretty lame, but again, for the price it was fine. Nothing special to eat and pretty limited but what they did offer was really tasty and the staff again were very nice. Overall the pros definitely outweigh the negatives and i would stay here again and recomend to friends and family. Our family of 4 had an excellent stay!
The accessibilty to the beach, convenience of the shops on the lower level , fresh coffee and juice always available in the lobby for guests and the general relaxed atmosphere and open layout of the lobby. The covered parking garage is also a nice feature. Of special note: I spilled my cup of coffee in the room and when i called for assistance from housekeeping the young man who came to help was very prompt and courteous. We found the staff to be very helpful and accommodating when asked and needed. The pool and the pool area were atrocious. The tiles above the water were lined with scum. There was, what i can only assume, a large slpatter of mucus on the deck of the pool area that was there for 2 days of our stay, and we saw at least 3 cockroaches running on the pool deck. When we first checked into our room, the bathroom had not been cleaned behind the door. A used towel from the prevoius occupant was still hanging on the door and there was debris such as sand and dust along the edges by the door.
It's not luxurious, but for the price it's SO much better than the other hotels (which are mostly dumps) in the area that cost the same or more. Everything was clean and modern, and the staff was extremely nice and accommodating! There were added perks that you don't always get at some of the other hotels at Virginia Beach, like being able to park more than 1 car there (for a small fee), and even though check out is 11am you can still park your car there for the remainder of the day. If you like to swim you might need to walk a block or so up the beach since the hotel is right next to the pier (where most shark attacks occur). Otherwise, the location is great! It's right by the amusement park and tons of shops and restaurants. I'll definitely come back here again! The ac was a bit harsh. If you sleep next to the air vent you're going to get tons of cold air blasted right at you. The beds are a bit hard, but I still slept well.
Beachfront Based on price and reviews, thought hotel had been rebuilt. Same dingy carpets in hallway, gaudy colors, weak attempt at an unhealthy breakfast. When first walked in room and smell men's cologne, I was immediately turned off. Refrigerator was not working well so spoiled $100 worth of food and beer. Warm beer!!!! Even the shower was not adjustable. For 30 bucks more could've stayed at Hilton
Waterfront balcony was a huge plus. Gym, free parking, and breakfast included. Decent price. Could have been cleaner but, was not bad overall. The parking garage had steep ramps that may cause some vehicles to bottom out.
View Restaurant!!! Horrible dirty food was cold and bad selection. Rather not have a complimentary breakfast. We left
